Japan Great Beer Awards 2025には、全国から231の醸造所と808のビールが集まりました。2月23日から24日の2日間、横浜でブラインド審査が行われ、専門家のパネルが試飲、採点、審議を行いました。そしてなぜか、その中からブラックロックアイランドが金賞を獲得しました。

The Japan Great Beer Awards 2025 brought together 231 breweries and 808 beers from across the country. Two days of blind judging in Yokohama - February 23rd and 24th - with panels of experts tasting, scoring, and deliberating. And somehow, out of all of that, Black Rock Island came out with gold.

To be precise: the gold medal went to 黒岳 (Kurodake) Doppelbock, brewed by our partners at Taisetsu Ji Beer. For those who don't know, Black Rock Island is Kurodake - the same beer, a recipe we're proud to stand behind, made through our OEM partnership with one of Hokkaido's most trusted breweries. When they win, we win. We're family.
これが特に嬉しいのはなぜでしょう？ブラックロックアイランドは北海道からの唯一の金メダル受賞者だったからです。数十年の歴史と専用施設を持つ本州の醸造所が支配するコンペティションで、北からの小さなドッペルボックが存在感を示しました。
ブラックロックアイランドをまだ試していない方に、どんなビールかお伝えします：何世紀も前にドイツの修道士が醸造した「液体のパン」に着想を得た、伝統的なドッペルボックスタイルの深いモルトラガー。トーストパン、キャラメル、ダークフルーツの深いノート。8%のABVで、寒い北海道の夜に火のそばでゆっくり味わうビールです。
正直、まだこれを消化しているところです。1年前、私たちは商標出願を行い、最善を願っていました。今、金メダル受賞者です。夢を持つ熊にとって、人生は速く変わります。

What makes this especially sweet? Black Rock Island was the only gold medal winner from Hokkaido. In a competition dominated by mainland breweries with decades of history and purpose-built facilities, our little Doppelbock from the north held its own.
If you haven't tried Black Rock Island, here's what you're missing: a rich, malty lager in the traditional Doppelbock style, inspired by the "liquid bread" brewed by German monks centuries ago. Deep notes of toasted bread, caramel, and dark fruit. At 8% ABV, it's a beer to savour slowly, preferably by a fire on a cold Hokkaido night.
We're still processing this, honestly. A year ago, we were filing trademark applications and hoping for the best. Now we're gold medal winners. Life comes at you fast when you're a bear with a dream.
